GROUND TRANSPORTATION FROM SALT LAKE CITY AIRPORT TO SNOWBIRD
The company "Canyon Transportation" makes the round-trip from the Salt Lake City Airport to Snowbird. The current rate for this express shuttle is $ 38.00 round-trip.  The Canyon Transportation desk is located across from the Baggage Claim at each terminal (there are two terminals at the SLC airport, the Delta terminal and all-other-airlines terminal).

The trip takes about 30-45 minutes one way (depending on traffic conditions) and it is spectacular during the day.  So if you can, plan to arrive to SLC while there is still light.

Operation hours: 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Shuttles leave once every hour.

Ground Transportation Reservation and charging method:
You may ask Snowbird General Reservation to make your ground transportation reservation while you book your room.  The $ 38.00 fee will be added to your room expenses.

    The Venue
The conference will be hosted at the internationally renown ski-resort Snowbird. Snowbird is a cozy, slope-side pedestrian village, harmonizing naturally with the rugged beauty of the Wasatch Mountains. Snowbird is only 9 miles up from Salt Lake City. Sightseeing around Snowbird is easy and rewarding with choices ranging from a beautiful world-class alpine area just 45 minute away to the incredibly unusual landscape of the Great Salt Lake and the desert.

1999 is our school's 50th anniversary and the ACADIA conference will be one of the features to celebrate it. By Fall '99 the GSA will have begun integrating digital media across the whole curriculum through infrastructural and pedagogical changes. It will be a significant time for our school to host ACADIA'99

Late October is a wonderful time in the Intermountain West with the changing colors of the autumn, pleasant weather and low season prices. Salt Lake City with its surroundings is a vibrant cosmopolitan area of one million inhabitants that offer touristic and recreational opportunities. Salt Lake City will host the Winter Olympics in 2002.

    Weather & Fun at Snowbird
Regarding weather conditions at Snowbird, late October is a moody time in the Wasatch mountains.  Temperatures should be in the low 70’s during the day (if sunny) and in the 40’s at night.  However, strong wind and rain may bring the temperature down.  In fact, it is possible (not likely) that it may snow (which would be wonderfully beautiful).  If you
are planning to take the Tram to 11,00 ft high Hidden Peak to see the sunset (Saturday night), make sure you bring warm clothes.  Temperature and wind in the summit will feel like in the 30’s.  Also, since hiking is excellent, you may want to bring some footwear and several clothing layers for the occasion.  The Cliff Lodge also has an year round heated swimming pool and outstanding exercise and spa facilities.

Salt Lake City is also a Delta Hub, which means that ACADIA participants will benefit very reasonable airfares.
